Police are investigating a suspicious fire in the Auckland central business district.
Fire Safety Officer Gary Beer said fire fighters were called to a small fire in a sushi restaurant on Hobson St at about 10.20pm.
Mr Beer said the fire itself was small and there were no "ignition sources" in the area. He said someone was also seen running from the scene, last night.
Detective Constable Craig Mason said people staying at the nearby Heritage Hotel put the fire out.
Mr Mason said there is limited CCTV footage but a police want more information on a person who was seen on Hobson St walking towards Wyndham St.
Mr Mason said the person is described as about 170cm tall and wearing a lose fitting top which may have been grey.
He said anyone with information on the fire should call police on 302 6400
