A 32-year-old man who has been helping police with a homicide inquiry in the north Wairarapa town of Pahiatua will appear in the Tauranga District Court today on unrelated charges.
The body of a 33-year-old woman was found in her home early yesterday morning.
No charges relating to the death have yet been laid, inquiry head Detective Inspector Doug Brew of Palmerston North said last night. Police said earlier they were not actively seeking anybody else in connection with the inquiry.
Mr Brew said it was hoped the woman's body could be removed from the house today for an autopsy in Palmerston North.
The names of those involved could not be released, but the woman's family had been contacted and police were advising them of the inquiry's progress, he said.
Ten police staff from Tararua, Palmerston North and Hawke's Bay were working on the inquiry, and Institute of Environmental Science and Research staff would carry out a forensic scene examination at the house during the next two to three days.
