Police have been called to investigate interference with pain relief medication in wards at Christchurch Hospital.

One News reported that pain medication was being replaced by water. A nurse reportedly made the discovery and told management who took the matter to the police.
Hospital General Manager Mark Leggett says they do not know how long it has been going on, but their main concern is patient safety.
Mr Leggett says they are now taking additional precautions and have taken steps to monitor pain relief medication to ensure patients are getting the right dose.
