Police investigate Hamilton homicide

The discovery of a woman's body early this afternoon has led Hamilton police to launch a homicide inquiry.

Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Andy Bu Bear says police are still working to establish the identity of the victim. The Frankton property where her body was found has been cordoned off.

The death has been reported to the corner and Mr Bu Bear says a post-mortem is likely to be carried out in Auckland tomorrow.

"At this stage we are speaking to a number of people who are assisting us with our inquiries," he said.

Details regarding the victim's identity and how she died are expected to be available tomorrow.
