Police were today continuing their investigations into a head-on crash in West Auckland in which a motorcyclist was killed.
The accident happened on Piha Rd, Waiatarua, about 5.30pm yesterday and involved a car which police said had gone on to the wrong side of the road.
The motorcyclist was described as a 64-year-old man. His name has not yet been released.
The male driver of the car, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was not injured.
Sergeant Stu Kearns, from the police serious crash unit, said investigations were continuing into why the car had crossed over to the right-hand side of the road.
He understood the road surface was dry and the weather fine at the time.
