Police investigate death of baby

Waikato police are investigating the death of a 4-month-old baby boy last night.

The boy was reported dead at a house in Te Awamutu shortly after 9pm.

Senior Sergeant Peter van de Wetering said the death had been reported to the coroner.

"In respect of that death, investigations will continue today to establish the cause of it."

Police would interview people at the house as part of their investigation, Mr van de Wetering said.

It was too early to speculate on what had happened.

"It will require 24 hours to 48 hours before we would be in a position to make any further comment, if at all it is appropriate to do so then."
