Police are investigating the death of a baby boy in a Hamilton house this morning.

But they say they will have to wait for the results of a post mortem examination before they know if the death is suspicious.

Police were called to a Glenview house at 7.50am.

A Hamilton police spokesman said while the matter was under investigation, there was little information he could give about what may have happened to the boy.

It is understood detectives are speaking with the parents of the baby.
