Police hope today to establish how a 18-year-old Porirua man whose body was found in an alleyway outside a central Wellington apartment block on Sunday morning met his death.
Emergency services were called about 8.30am on Sunday to the Soho Apartments on Egmont St, between Dixon and Ghuznee Streets, where Dushan Saddlier Pouao's body was found by a friend.
Mr Poauo had been attending a party on the eighth floor of the building and police are working to determine how he came to be lying outside the complex.
Detective Inspector Paul Basham said they hoped to release more information on the cause of death following the completion of a post mortem examination today.
He said that distraught family and friends were taken to the scene before the removal of the body.
Police were looking at CCTV footage from the complex to determine the movements of Mr Pouao and other partygoers.
Mr Basham appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
Friends have left messages of sympathy on Mr Pouao's Facebook website.
