Chocolate giant Cadbury has laid a complaint with police over the misappropriation of funds from its Dunedin factory.
The Otago Daily Times understands the allegations centre around a female employee, who is alleged to have taken up to $50,000.
Last night the company issued a statement from its Australian office, stating "We cannot comment on a legal matter that has been handed over to police following an internal investigation at the Dunedin site".
Further allegations that funds may have gone from the staff's carpark fundraiser, were strongly denied by the company.
"The investigation does not involve any funds raised for charity and to the best of our knowledge all monies raised via car park collection have been accounted for and regularly passed on to the relevant charities."
