Police are speaking to a "person of interest" after a woman was seriously assaulted outside a Hamilton church last week.
Detective Senior Sergeant Ross Patterson of the Hamilton CIB said an investigation was launched following the discovery of human blood outside the Activate Church on Bisley Rd in Hamilton East on Thursday.
"Our enquiries indicate a 35-year-old woman suffered serious facial injuries after being subjected to a serious assault in the carpark outside the church on Wednesday night.
"A person of interest has been identified in relation to this matter and we hope to speak to him later today with a view of progressing this matter further."
