Police are hunting for a man who robbed the Bank of New Zealand branch in Mosgiel, 17km west of Dunedin, this morning.
Senior Sergeant Brian Benn, of Dunedin police, said a man went into the bank at the corner of Lanark St and Gordon Rd about 9.40am.
The man demanded money and was given some cash before leaving on foot.
Mr Benn told NZPA the robber was described as having a thin to medium build and between 165cm and 170cm tall.
He said detectives were still interviewing bank staff and people who were in the area.
It was unknown if the robber had a weapon.
