KEY POINTS:
Police are hunting three men who allegedly abducted a 13-year-old girl from her Taupo home.
Detective Rick Bagley of Taupo police said the girl, who had been with family members at her Terence St house, was forced into vehicle about 9.30pm on Monday.
She was driven to John St nearby, where she managed to escape her captors, he said.
The alleged abductors were aged between 16 and 20. Two were Maori or Polynesian and one was Caucasian.
One of the dark skinned men was described as tall with black hair with blond patches on the back of his head.
The vehicle was described as a dark, with four doors and a loud exhaust.
Police wanted to speak to anyone who had any information about the offenders or the vehicle or had seen any suspicious behaviour in Terence St at the time.
Any information would be treated in the strictest confidence, Mr Bagley said.
