A 17-year-old man has been arrested for burglary and wilful damage of a Northland tavern.
The Otangarei man, and other offenders yet to be caught, smashed an internal door of Tikipunga Tavern and the glass doors of the tavern's beer chiller last night.
Police were called to the tavern at 10:45pm. The offenders took a shelf of Corona and Steinlager beers and a dozen mini spirit bottles that were displayed at the rear of the bar.
Blood was located on the ground of the bar and in the tavern carpark.
The man was arrested at his Otangarei home last night. He was wearing blood-soaked clothing and had a bad cut on his arm, Whangarei police acting sergeant Shane Dunn said.
