KEY POINTS:
Police are searching for a man wearing a hoodie with a cannabis leaf motif who robbed a service station near Whangarei last night.
The offender presented a note demanding cash at the Gull Service Station at Otaika, about 7km south of Whangarei, at about 9.30pm.
The attendant complied and the offender ran away with a small amount of cash in the direction of a nearby Harvey Norman store.
Whangarei Station Sergeant Graham Povey said the offender was a male aged 19 or 20, possibly a light-skinned Maori, of medium build with stubble on his chin.
He was wearing a black hoodie with a large green cannabis leaf motif on the front and the top of the hood, and had the word "marijuana" written on both sleeves in white or light lettering.
