KEY POINTS:
Police are on the hunt for a prisoner who escaped from Rangipo Prison, in Turangi yesterday.
Police said Jayden Anthony Sean Conroy, 21, fled the prison during a work party about 11.50am on Saturday.
Conroy was described as 186 cm tall, slim to medium build with a black crew cut hair, goatee beard and with a olive complexion.
Police said he was last seen wearing a green raincoat, green leggings, gumboots and a dark peaked cap.
Conroy could be wearing prison clothing under his clothes, which was normally blue jeans and a polar fleece top.
Police said he was not considered dangerous and was believed to be heading toward the Napier area.
