KEY POINTS:
North Shore police are hunting a man who raped a 19-year-old woman in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Detective Senior Sergeant Kim Libby said the young woman met the man - who had a brown dog, believed to be a staffordshire/shar pei cross - in Takapuna just after 1am. He dragged her into a bit of wasteland on Rangitira Ave and sexually assaulted her.
The detective said the European man, aged 20 to 25, had a distinctive tattoo on the inside of his left arm.
Anyone with information is asked to phone the North Shore duty CIB supervisor on 477-5000.
