KEY POINTS:
Porirua police are searching for two men who robbed a Denny's Restaurant at knifepoint early yesterday morning.
Detective Lance Herring said the two men in their early 20's, one armed with a large kitchen knife, entered the 24-hour restaurant on Semple Street about 5.10am.
They approached the duty manager, threatened her with the knife and obtained a quantity of cash of various denominations, Mr Herring said.
The first man was believed to be a light skinned with freckles.
He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a blue and white bandanna across his face, black material tracksuit pants with a white stripe down the outside leg, gloves and white and black casual shoes. He was about 1.82m tall and of slim build.
The second man was described as a male Maori or Polynesian, about 1.74m tall and of podgy build.
He was also wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with dark material across his face and blue jeans.
Mr Herring said police would like to hear from anyone who was at or near Denny's restaurant between 4.45am and 5.15am.
