A man who tried to entice a young girl playing with others in a Te Ore Ore Rd yard to come to him is being sought by Masterton police.
The 8-year-old was on one side of the property playing on her own, while several other children were playing further away,
when the man walked past about 6.50pm on Sunday, then stopped and tried to lure the girl to him.
Senior Sergeant Warwick Burr said the girl ran back to her friends and the man was seen trying to climb the fence into the property but then left.
He was described as being dark-skinned, aged in his 30s, of medium build with a small goatee growing under his bottom lip.
Mr Burr said the man had been wearing a black beanie, grey hoodie and dark blue jeans and was bare-footed.
