Police are hunting a man who exhibited what they say was concerning and suspicious behaviour towards a teenage girl in the Auckland suburb of Pt Chevalier.
The girl was disturbed by the man's actions after he pulled up alongside her on Dignan St at about 5.30pm on Monday, a police spokeswoman said.
She would not elaborate on his behaviour but said he "did not succeed in what he was trying to do".
Detective Damian Espinosa of the Child Protection Team said the man's behaviour was of concern and police wanted to identify and locate him.
He is described as a large Polynesian in his mid-30s with short curly hair and a long plait down the back of his head.
The words "All Blacks" were reportedly in small print on the registration plate of the black Toyota Corolla he was driving.
To give information on the incident, contact Detective Espinosa at on 09 302 6400 or email damian.espinosa@police.govt.nz.
Anonymous callers can phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
