Lower Hutt police are hunting three men, one armed with a knife and a second with a golf club, who robbed the Wainuiomata Liquor Store on Tuesday night.
About 9.20pm, the men with their faces concealed entered the store, demanded money and fled with a quantity of alcohol.
"Once out of the bottle store, the trio ran across Wainuiomata Road, into Rimu Street and were last seen running toward Totara Street," officer in charge of the investigation, Detective Jared Rowe said
"Police are concerned with the nature of this robbery, given weapons were involved. It's lucky no one was injured," he said.
One of the men was wearing a grey coloured hooded sweatshirt, a second dark coloured clothes and the third a black puffer style jacket with a green hooded sweatshirt underneath. All were between 1.65 metres and 1.75 metres tall.
"Police want to speak with anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen anything suspicious."
