Police are hunting a knife-wielding man who attempted to hold up a Wellington dairy last night.
He entered the G & S Superette on the corner of Onepu Road and Apu Crescent, Lyall Bay, about 7.45pm, Detective Constable Gareth Barnes, of Wellington CIB, said.
He pulled out an approximately 30cm long hunting style knife, and demanded money from the till.
But, the attendant activated an audible alarm and the man fled down Apu Cres empty-handed.
He was described as a tall, light skinned, slim built man.
He was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt with a white shirt underneath, black jeans, black gloves and dark shoes with light soles and a light stripe on the side.
He had a blue and white bandanna across his face.
Police want to hear from anyone who saw him in the area or has any information.
