Police hunting a group that beat a 23-year-old man so viciously he needed facial reconstruction surgery are seeking a car linked to the brawl.
The Cannons Creek man was badly injured after he and friend got into a fight with two men and a woman in a carpark in Porirua, north of Wellington, about 2.30am on Saturday.
The victim was taken to Wellington Hospital's intensive care with multiple facial and head injuries and was in a stable condition in Hutt Hospital after facial reconstruction surgery.
Detective James Withington of Porirua police said they were still trying to piece the incident together and were seeking witnesses.
"The victim has endured a vicious beating and we would like assistance from the community to find those responsible," he said.
