The death of a west Auckland truck driver last week has turned into a "real whodunnit" say police.
The body of Lee Ross McMurdo, 32, was found outside his home in Helensville, northwest of Auckland on Friday but police are not saying when they think he died or how he died.
"We have got a lot of work to do," inquiry head Detective Inspector Greg Cramer said.
A post mortem was done yesterday but Mr Cramer said it would be premature to speculate on how Mr McMurdo died.
Police launched the homicide inquiry because "it is clear another person was involved in his death".
