Police have released the description of a man they believe robbed a Ngongotaha shop brandishing a pistol.
He is Maori, 175cm tall, of average build and was wearing a balaclava, three-quarter-length shorts with a black singlet and a red or maroon top underneath. He was also wearing sports shoes.
The man is wanted after the Coin Save shop on Ngongotaha Rd was robbed on Tuesday around 12pm. The owner of the store was confronted by the man who demanded cash. He obtained an undisclosed amount of cash and then ran from the store.
He was seen to run over the Ngongotaha Stream bridge and into the stream reserve behind the Ngongotaha Domain.
Police are reviewing CCTV footage from Ngongotaha.
