A man wearing a plastic mask used a long barreled rifle to rob a Whangarei dairy yesterday.
The man entered the Jack St dairy in Otangarei at about 3.40pm and pointed the firearm at the two staff members, forcing one of them to open the till and hand over an unknown amount of cash.
He then ran from the shop and into a dark coloured vehicle that was waiting outside.
He was described as wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt with the hood up, dark pants and a plastic type mask covering his face.
Police would like to speak to anyone who saw any suspicious activity around the Jack Street area on Saturday afternoon or have any information about the vehicle seen leaving the scene.
