KEY POINTS:
Police are hunting the driver of a stationwagon after a man was killed in an apparent hit-and-run in Matamata overnight.
The body of an 18-year-old man was found at the intersection of Bowler and and Clothier Roads in Matamata around midnight.
He had numerous injuries.
Inspector Matt Sillars, of police northern communications, said initial investigations suggested the victim may have been walking on the roadside and was struck by a car.
Police wanted to speak to the driver of a dark coloured stationwagon which was seen parked near where the body was found and appealed to the public for help.
