Hastings police are looking for a late model Ford Falcon which they believe crashed into two power poles, causing a power cut, before driving off.
Senior Sergeant Bryan Smith said the offending car, a dark green Ford Falcon XR8, left the scene today, at the intersection of State Highway 2 and Longlands Road.
Two concrete power poles were shattered in the crash, causing several thousand dollars in damage, Mr Smith said.
Power was cut for several hours to the Longlands area, 5km south of Hastings, he said.
Police want to speak to the driver or passengers of the vehicle, or anyone else who had information about the crash.
