Police are worried about the condition of a bleeding would-be robber in Palmerston North.
The shirtless, barefooted man tried to rob the Albert Sports Bar on Albert St about 3.30pm on Saturday.
Inspector Marty Parker said that during the incident the alleged offender had gone through a glass bar window and as a result had possibly seriously injured himself.
"There has been a trail of blood left by the person as he has fled from the scene on foot," Mr Parker said.
"Police are concerned for the welfare of the individual due to the amount of blood left in the immediate area."
The man was last seen in the area of Main and Ruahine streets.
Police were asking people in the immediate area to check their properties, but not to approach the man if they found him and to contact police immediately.
The man was described as Caucasian, with shaggy brown hair, and wearing only a pair of blue jeans.
