Police are on the hunt for the attackers who left a man badly beaten and unconscious in the grounds of a New Plymouth church on Friday.
The 37-year-old man was left badly beaten in the grounds of St Mary's Pro-Cathedral on Friday night, Detective Janine Lee of New Plymouth police told the Taranaki Daily News.
The man was in a stable condition in Taranaki Base Hospital after receiving serious head and facial injuries.
The attack was believed to have happened in the grounds of the church, but it was unsure how the man got there, Ms Lee said.
Police were unsure how many people had attacked the man, even though they had interviewed him in hospital.
