A brazen bank robber has been caught on camera pointing a handgun over a counter without even bothering to cover his face.
The image of the man, showing little emotion as he threatened staff with the gun, was released by police this afternoon.
Dressed casually in a black T-shirt the man, who looks middle-aged, made off with a "modest amount of cash" when he held up an ASB branch in Mairangi Bay on Auckland's North Shore, about 11.30am, police said.
After he was given some cash, the man fled on foot. He remained on the run this afternoon.
"He took off, we had cordons in place but everything's now been released and we're investigating."
