Police hope a television show will prompt someone to "do the right thing" and give vital information to help solve a 23-year-old murder-mystery.
Tonight's Sensing Murder features the killing of Nelson man Kevin O'Loughlin who was found stabbed to death in the early hours of May, 1993, at the entrance to a city carpark.
Police hope someone watching the programme might recall information that could prove critical to the cold case.
He said finding the killer would help bring closure for Mr O'Loughlin's family.
Detective Inspector Paul Borrell said police were very hopeful that with the passing of time, someone involved or who knew those involved would feel compelled to do the right thing.
