Police plan to speak today to the man at the centre of west Auckland's stabbing rampage.
He remains in Auckland Hospital after being shot by police following a knifing spree on Monday which left one man dead.
Police hope they will finally be able to speak to the 31-year-old, who has been in a critical condition ever since he was hit by three police bullets.
He is expected to be well enough for an interview today. He has been charged with assault, but police say more serious charges will follow once they have had a chance to speak to him.
Meanwhile Waitemata District Health Board will today launch its own internal inquiry into the background of the mental health patient and the care he received.
