KEY POINTS:
Police hope a post-mortem today will help establish the identity of a man whose body was found on Te Mata Peak at Havelock North in Hawke's Bay.
The man's body was found on Sunday and carried no identification.
Police said he may have been there for up to five days.
He was about 1.72cm tall and wearing three-quarter length jeans and a grey T-shirt.
The body was taken to Palmerston North Hospital this morning for a post-mortem examination, Acting Senior Sergeant John Fey said.
"Some more forensic tests will be done and we're hoping to get an identity later on today as a result of the tests," he said.
He could not say if anyone had contacted police about a missing friend or relative.
"Once we've made the identity we'll have to get hold of next of kin."
