Police will be out to snare speeding drivers at Himatangi Beach, near Foxton, with covert radar and laser guns this summer.
Sergeant Martin Bull says police will set up speed traps on the beach using marked and unmarked police cars.
"The same rules apply as on State Highway 1," he said.
Mr Bull said two police officers based at Foxton Beach would do four-hour shifts at Himatangi Beach.
