Hundreds of people have been ticketed in a police blitz targeting bad driving.
Auckland city police set up 20 checkpoints across the district on Wednesday, and officers issued 220 infringement notices over 15 hours.
They said 31 per cent were for using cell phones while driving or not wearing a seatbelt.
"This was a disappointing result," said Auckland City road policing manager Acting Inspector Mathew Knowsley.
"We would have been happy to not issue any infringements at all, as this would have demonstrated that people were driving responsibly and looking out for those they share the road with and their passengers."
