Police hail bush fugitive

Fugitive Kim Smith, who police believe is hiding out in the bush, failed to respond yesterday to messages broadcast from a helicopter in the Port Waikato area.

Smith, a member of the Outcasts gang, is wanted in connection with the shooting of Tribesman gang member Dwayne Andre Wilson at Waingaro, between Ngaruawahia and Raglan, on June 7.

Smith has been on the run for most of the year, after absconding while on bail for offences including aggravated burglary and drugs and firearms charges.
