The hunt for a wanted man believed to be connected to the disappearance of Lance John Murphy is continuing and police say they are following a number of leads.
Mr Murphy, 56, was last seen leaving the BP station in Waiuku in his red Mazda on November 21.
Police revealed they were looking for Steven Brent Gunbie, 47, in connection with Mr Murphy's disappearance.
They said the Mazda was found at Gunbie's residence and appealed for anyone with information to come forward. They believed Gunbie had access to firearms and a Counties Manukau police spokeswoman said this morning the search for Gunbie and investigation into Mr Murphy's disappearance, named Operation Cosmos, was "progressing".
"We have had some good information coming through," she said.
However, no further details could be released today.
Last week Gunbie appeared to be taunting police on social media. Police posted a photograph on Facebook of Gunbie and asked for sightings of him and he replied.
If you know where Steven Brent Gunbie is, or have information about the disappearance of Lance Murphy, contact the Operation Cosmos investigation team at 0508 422 443.
