Police believe they have found the body of missing Christchurch woman Christine Hindson, a police spokeswoman said today.
Detective Sergeant Dorothy McPhail said a post mortem on a woman's body, found in Ferrymead Historic Park today, was carried out this afternoon.
Ms McPhail said she did not expect formal identification to be completed before next Monday at the earliest. Specialist services are being used to assist with the identification.
A 48-year-old man yesterday appeared in Christchurch District Court charged with the murder of Ms Hindson, 45, on September 6. He was remanded in custody without plea to appear again on September 22.
The search for the body of Ms Hindson, who disappeared from the home she shared with her ex-partner last week, started yesterday in the grounds of Ferrymead Historic Park. She was reported missing a week ago by her close family.
Police have completed the scene examination in the Ferrymead area and are not seeking a weapon or any other person in relation to the death.
