Police have found the parents of a little girl who was found alone in Papatoetoe yesterday.
The four-year-old, who answered to the name Valerie, was found without adults at 4.30pm, Inspector Anthony Edwards said.
Police did not find the girl's parents until this morning and no one had come forward to report their daughter missing, Mr Edwards said.
The girl was put into Child Youth and Family care.
A police spokeswoman said the parents were now being interviewed.
The situation was not being treated as suspicious.
It appeared one member of the child's family believed another family member was looking after the child.
