The victim of a violent home invasion in Matamata yesterday is now recovering at home, while police have recovered the vehicle used by the attackers.
Eastern Waikato Area Manager Investigations, Detective Senior Sergeant Graham Pitkethley said police recovered the white Subaru Legacy overnight and are now interviewing the man believed to have been driving it.
The victim was found suffering severe facial injuries in his Sylvan St house about 2am yesterday.
At the time police believed the attack wasn't random and that all those involved were known to each other.
Mr Pitkethley said police had completed their scene examination of the victim's house and interviews of "some persons of interest".
