Hamilton police did not have to go far to catch a suspected bank robber - they found him in the dock facing another charge.
The 33-year-old man had been wanted in connection with the armed robbery of the Frankton Kiwibank on Commerce Street last Wednesday.
He was found while appearing in Hamilton District Court on unrelated charges after a member of the public recognised him from a local newspaper and contacted police.
"On being questioned he was subsequently charged with aggravated robbery," Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Greene said.
"We're very appreciative of the assistance we received from the public." public."
