New Zealand police are still working with the FBI in an international investigation over a multi-million dollar cyber crime ring alleged to involve a Whitianga teenager.
Owen Walker, 18, was last month taken from his home and questioned by police.
Walker was suspected by the FBI of being "Akill" - ringleader of a "botnet" which has infected a million computers with a virus and resulted in an estimated $26 million-plus of economic loss.
He was alleged to have been part of an attack that crashed the computer server at the University of Pennsylvania.
Waikato crime services manager Detective Inspector Peter Devoy said yesterday police were still waiting for final results from forensic assessment of recovered computer hardware.
"Final decisions as to what outcomes will follow for the offender haven't been made yet."
Police had spoken to Walker again, Mr Devoy said.
He would not comment on whether it was possible for Walker to be extradited to the United States.
New Zealand police have been working with the FBI on the case since February.
Officers searched addresses in Waikato, Northland and Canterbury before first questioning Walker.
