KEY POINTS:
Police investigating the shooting of a man outside his Hamilton home will be carrying out a scene examination today.
The 51-year-old man turned up at Waikato Hospital yesterday with a wound to his shoulder after being shot between 5.30am and 7am.
He had surgery last night and is recovering.
"His injury was not considered life threatening and we understand he is currently in a stable condition," Detective Senior Sergeant Chris Page of Hamilton CIB said.
The scene examination of the man's Duke St address, in Hamilton West, would be carried out with the help of forensic scientists.
"Other than examining the property where the victim lived the focus for the inquiry team today will be the re-interviewing of witnesses and people associated with the victim," Mr Page said.
Detectives spoke to the man yesterday and would be speaking to him again today.
"The inquiry team is interested in any information on anyone suspicious in the area between those times and also of any suspicious vehicles or vehicle movements," Mr Page said.
