Police have completed a scene examination of the site where nine-year-old Tayne Bowes was killed when the four-wheel-drive he was in slid into a slurry pond on Sunday night.
His father, who was working at the Ruatapu mine near Hokitika when the accident occurred there, is yet to be interviewed by police.
Investigators said they hoped to talk to him tomorrow and establish the events leading up to the accident.
Tayne's body is expected to be returned to his family later today after a post mortem examination, said police.
