KEY POINTS:
Police investigating the body of an unidentified man found in the Waitakere Ranges have released images of his clothing in the hope of jogging someone's memory.
Police spokeswoman Noreen Hegarty said pig hunters found the man's body only a few hundred metres into the bush from Scenic Drive and less than a kilometre from the Arataki visitor's centre.
She said the man's death was not being treated as suspicious.
He was between 172 and 174cm tall, a muscular build and had keys to a Mitsubishi car, a Suzuki motorcycle and a backdoor key on him.
Detective sergeant Roger Small said the man is likely to have gone missing between 1987 and 1992 and was wearing a brown bomber-style jacket, a chequered Chinese-style collared shirt, a green sweatshirt, black and white Adidas shoes and long trousers which were probably jeans.
