Police divers are due in Auckland today to help retrieve a boat that sunk in the Hauraki Gulf and hopefully shed some light on what happened.
Despite extensive sea searches there is still no sign of Warkworth man Anthony Preston, 41, who was with three other men and a 13-year-old boy aboard a 5.5m aluminium boat that sunk off Kawau Island about 3pm on Tuesday.
The survivors - Shannon Ford, Samuel Cash, Michael Bond and his son Quinton - had made it to Motuketekete Island but were not rescued until about 10am the next day after the alarm had been raised. All were now out of hospital following their ordeal.
