KEY POINTS:
Police divers were today due to search the Grey River for an elderly Greymouth man missing for 12 days.
Joseph Lewis Butcher, 70, hasn't been seen since he left his suburban Cobden home on July 4.
His bank account has not been touched and his green 1993 Ford Fiesta is also missing.
Senior Sergeant Tom Firmin said police divers would search the river today.
"Obviously we have grave concerns for his safety, given the time that has passed," Mr Firmin said.
Police and volunteers searched areas of West Coast bush and kayakers unsuccessfully scoured the Grey River on Thursday, and a helicopter scoured the area on Saturday.
Mr Butcher was described as European, 175cm tall, balding with grey hair. He kept generally good health and was mentally sharp.
