KEY POINTS:
Police divers and jet boats will continue searching the Waimakariri River today for items belonging to missing school girl Marie Davis.
A police spokeswoman told NZPA the divers were looking for any property that may have belonged to Marie and anything that was out of the ordinary.
Any items found will be shown to Marie's family to see if they recognise them, she said.
The divers returned to the river at 9.30am.
The items recovered yesterday will be shown to Marie's family today or tomorrow.
The search of the river bed and surrounding banks was prompted by a number of disturbances in the area, including a scream, on the night Marie disappeared.
The 15-year-old has not been seen since being dropped off by a friend's mother at her suburban Papanui home about 6pm on Saturday, April 5.
She failed to meet her elder sister, Amy, and was reported missing about 8am the following day.
Inquiry head Detective Senior Sergeant Virginia Le Bas wanted to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious in the Northcote area, or on the banks of the Waimakariri River on Saturday April 5 or Sunday April 6.
People walking or passing through those areas should be vigilant, she said.
Any suspicious items should be reported to police.
Police were also appealing for any sightings of Marie or her green canvas shoulder bag, missing from her home.
Sightings of Marie had been reported from throughout the country and as far afield as Australia, and all were being followed up.
She was described as a part-Maori, about 168cm tall, with brown eyes and shoulder-length black hair.
She was thought to be wearing dark trousers and a pink short-sleeved T-shirt with a white T-shirt underneath.
