Police say they are "comfortable" with the actions of officers who attended a Hamilton party early on Sunday, after a teenager claimed she was assaulted while being arrested.
Police said they were aware of a Facebook posting alleging a 16-year-old female was assaulted, although no formal complaints had been made.
There were multiple calls in the early hours of Sunday from north Hamilton residents reporting that about 50 teenagers were fighting in the street.
The first police officers at the scene had bottles thrown at their vehicle from the crowd.
"The teenagers involved had spilled out onto the road from a nearby party which had got out of control and was subsequently closed by police resulting in six arrests," the statement said.
