Police officers in two pursuits last year have been criticised, and disciplinary action is possible.
Two reports released yesterday by the Independent Police Conduct Authority, one into a fatal pursuit in Picton in February and one in Parnell, Auckland in August, said officers were justified in starting the pursuits but in the first case, the officer's "gold" driver classification, which allowed him to start pursuits, had expired.
In the second case, the IPCA said officers did not comply with policy for abandoning a pursuit when the car reached 100km/h in a 50km/h zone and ran a red light.
